A Diploma Engineer is a person who is initially appointed as a Sub-Assistant Engineer and works as an active member of the engineering team or as a mediator. Diploma Engineers take over work from higher level officers and delegate work to subordinate skilled workers/technicians.

And the main objective of Diploma Engineering course is to create Supervising, Technologist & Development Engineer.
For this diploma engineering course apart from the basic engineering books one has to read many more commerce books including Book Keeping & Accounting, Business organization & Communication, industrial management.

There are diploma courses in 49 government polytechnics in Bangladesh. A total of 32 technology diplomas are offered in Bangladesh. Diploma Engineers in the initial stage of employment are gazetted officers of 2nd class and start career from 10th grade. After working successfully for 4/5 years, get promotion in 9th grade and as first class engineer.
